CHAIR: JONATHAN JOYNER

THE NINTH ANNUAL ALABAMA MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE

Jonathan is a senior at the University of Alabama majoring in International Relations with a minor in French. This is his fourth year at ALMUN and his second time as a chair. He has spent all four years in the International Relations Club and has been to three domestic and two international MUN conferences. Jonathan enjoys reading and exercising in his free time as well as following the news and world events. He loves adventure and spent his past summer driving more than 12,000 miles to hike the country's national parks. In May, Jonathan will commission as an infantry officer in the US Army. He looks forward to chairing UNDP and helping to facilitate ALMUN for one final year.

CO-CHAIR: WILLIAM MCSWAIN

William is a current first-year student. He is serving as co-chair of the United Nations Development Programme. He is majoring in Political Science with minors in Blount (Liberal Arts) and Public Policy. He is also taking Arabic and wants to study abroad in the Middle East next fall. William listens to BBC News (both in English and in Arabic) and is interested in knowing current events, particularly events pertaining to the Middle East. Apart from school, William is from North Carolina, and he loves to hike in the Appalachian Mountains. He also loves to drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, especially in the fall season. When he graduates, William’s dream job is to write policy for a politician or work for an agency in the federal government.

UNDP is the United Nation's global development network, specifically focusing on developing countries. UNDP played a significant role in addressing the Millennium Development Goals, and especially in eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, and improving institutional capabilities to achieve greater sustainable development.
