THE NINTH ANNUAL ALABAMA MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE

CHAIR: BILL KOLPAK

CO-CHAIR: WIL CARPENTER

DISEC is the First Committee of the General Assembly and deals largely with threats to international peace within the scope of the United Nations Charter. DISEC serves as a forum for representatives from all member countries to debate issues of disarmament and security in an environment of equality, unlike the United Nations Security Council. The committee promotes cooperative arrangements to strengthen stability by focusing on disarmament and arms regulations, while preventing arms proliferation. DISEC often works closely with the UN Security Council.

*This committee will comprise double delegations.
