Co-Chair: Austin Halverson

Davis Wright  will be serving as the chair of SPECPOL during ALMUN VIII. He is looking foward to seeing all of the greate work that will be accomplished in his committtee. Davis comes from Caton, GA, a small town near Atlanta and currently is pursuing a major in political science and a minor in communications and international relations.
He did Model UN all four years of high school, and has gone to three conferences so far in his  freshman year of college. An avid soccer, football, basketball, and general sports fan, if you don't find him doing schoolwork  you can probably find him watching some sort of sport. Finally, while some people's favorite holiday might be Halloween or Christmas, he prefers Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day, celebrated on May 29th.

The Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL) deals with issues concerning decolonization issues, Palestinian refugees and human rights, peacekeeping, mine action, outer space, public information, atomic radiation, and the University for Peace. The SPECPOL Chair is Davis Wright and the Co- Chair is Austin Halverson.


Delegates will debate on the following subjects:

  1. Child Trafficking in India
  2. Human Rights Abuses by Private Military Corporations (PMCs)

Austin Halverson is a freshman studying economics and finance here at the University. Throughout high school, he stayed involved with Model UN and upon coming to the university, he was thrilled to continue his experience with it. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends, going to Greek events, and playing video games.
