A Republic If You Can Keep It: The Republic of Texas 1845-1870
Each of you will have a chance at changing America’s future, so it’s important to speak up for what your character believes in and do your best to get your agenda completed. I expect for this committee to reach the goal of electing an Illuminati-favored candidate for president–how we get there will be up to the decisions you make as a committee. In order to fully participate, each delegate should be familiar with their character’s general views and backgrounds, as well as the specific information that will be handed to you in the dossiers. Use this intel wisely, and you could end up at the top of the pyramid. I would say I can’t wait to see what happens, but the Illuminati knows all. Omnis vir enim sui!
Following the election of US President Henry Clay, and the negotiation of the Smith-Cuevas Treaty, The Republic of Texas has embraced its independence, turning towards a mostly unanimous platform of anti-annexation. In an increasingly tumultuous political landscape defined by the tense interactions with the United States, Mexico, and Great Britain, all competing for influence in Texas, few believe that the Republic of Texas will ever have a place on a world stage, let alone remain independent.
The young republic must deal with the most pressing issues of the era: race relations, population expansion, and industrialization, as well as national issues such as mounting debt, diplomacy, and military threats. Is the Texan pride and spirit enough to effectively confront these paramount issues? As the young nation struggles to retain its sovereignty, delegates must consider the ramifications of their decisions on both a national and international stage. Will the Republic of Texas flourish, or will this be just another chapter in another nation's manifest destiny? Our legacy is in your hands.
