Meet the Secretariat!
Christine Allen is a senior from Auburn, Alabama, majoring in political science and interdisciplinary studies with a depth study in environmental policy and minoring in Spanish. This will be her fourth year serving on ALMUN staff. Outside of ALMUN, she is an active member of the Alabama International Relations Club and has attended both national and international collegiate Model UN conferences. She is also Chief Justice of the Arts and Sciences Academic Honor Council, President of the Canterbury Student Forum, and a member of the Blackburn Institute. She works part-time as a Student Office Assistant with the Blackburn Institute and, in her free time, she enjoys reading, horseback riding, rafting, listening to podcasts, and singing very loudly during car rides. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a law degree and is specifically interested in international and environmental law.
Clayton Lawing, is a junior majoring in hospitality management with a double minor in theatre and the Blount Scholars Program. Clayton is from Montgomery, AL although he and his family originate in Thailand. This is his seventh year in Model UN, having been involved in the last several years of ALMUN, including serving as Under-Secretary-General of Crisis and
co-Chairing the Clash of the Gods JCC in his freshman year. His favorite committees have been ICJ, SOCHUM, and ALMUN's previous Justice League JCC. Here at the Capstone, Clayton is extremely involved, serving as a Resident Advisor, an Associate Justice on the Student Government Association Judiciary, stage managing productions for the University of Alabama Theatre and Dance shows, and acting the Director of Internal Affairs for AIRC. Clayton is super excited for ALMUN XI and hopes that staff, sponsors, and delegates will come to the conferences with open hearts and open minds, ready to learn about international issues to better develop themselves.

USG - Specialized Agencies
Bill Kolpak is a junior from Chicago, Illinois. He is majoring in finance and accounting at the Culverhouse College of Business, and is looking forward to his third year staffing ALMUN. In addition to this, Bill has four years of experience attending Model UN conferences in high school. In his spare time, Bill enjoys reading, running, watching football, and hanging out with friends. Outside of ALMUN, Bill is involved as a leader in the Honors College Program ‘Alabama Action,’ as the Treasurer of his fraternity, and as a member of the service organization LIFT. Bill has enjoyed getting ready for ALMUN XI, and looks forward to seeing everyone at the conference.
USG - General Assemblies
Kat Reed is a senior from Las Vegas, Nevada. She is majoring in mathematics with minors in mathematics education and religious studies and plans to graduate in 2020 with a Masters in Secondary Education to be a high-school math teacher. This is her third year with ALMUN, having previously served as a co-Chair and a Chair for General Assembly committees. Outside of ALMUN, she acts as Vice-President of Alabama International Relations Club, works as a barista and as a SupeStore Bookstore Assistant, and is a general book enthusiast. Most of all, she is excited to see everyone at the conference!
Caitlyn Johnson is a sophomore from Chattanooga, TN majoring in political science and minoring in French and Arabic. This is her sixth year in Model UN after competing in high school and serving as Assistant Crisis Director of the Ad Hoc Committee at ALMUN X. Her favorite committees are Ad Hoc, SOCHUM, and DISEC and she is extremely excited to be working with the crisis component of ALMUN XI this year. Outside of ALMUN, Caitlyn serves as the Director of First Year Council for SGA and is an active member of her sorority. Caitlyn is beyond excited about ALMUN XI!
USG - Press Corps
Mollie Boutwell is a junior from Montgomery, Alabama. She is majoring in social work at the University of Alabama. This is her third year serving on ALMUN’s Secretariat and her second year as USG - Press Corps. Along with ALMUN experience, she participated in four years of MUN in high school and chaired her high school conference's Press Corps. Mollie is excited to watch as Press Corps grows through the conference each year after starting it at ALMUN IX!
Zach Boros works closely with the Secretary General, overseeing all logistical aspects of ALMUN, including registration. He leads the rest of the logistics branch in supporting substantive aspects of the conference. This is Zach’s sixth year involved in ALMUN (his third on staff). Zach is currently a junior majoring in social work and minoring in psychology. Outside of ALMUN, Zach serves on the executive board of the National High School Model UN Conference in New York City, which is the world’s largest model UN conference. He also participates in the Alabama International Relations Club and writes for The Crimson White, among other involvements.
Lawford Hatcher is a sophomore from Maryville, Tennessee, studying mathematics on the pre-medical track. Lawford is also a member of the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band and the treasurer of the Alabama International Relations Club. He is also a research assistant in the Anthropology and Kinesiology departments.
USG-Volunteers & Recruitment
Amica is a senior from Homewood, AL majoring in international studies and geography/urban development and minoring in Chinese. She is a member of the Randall Research Scholars Honors Program and has conducted research in the collection and dissemination of militarized interstate disputes (MIDs)data, as well as, language learning pedagogy. She spent this past summer in Washington D.C. as a 2018 State Department Rangel Scholar. She has studied abroad for a full year in China, as a 2017 NSEP David L. Boren Scholar, to improve her Mandarin and learn more about Chinese culture and politics. On campus, she has been involved in Alabama International Relations Club, Chinese Culture Club, and Asian-American Student Association. She has also been an intern at the Education Abroad Office, and loves to talk about study abroad. Amica enjoys reading, escape games, and trying all different kinds of food. After graduation, she plans to obtain a masters in international affairs with a focus on Asia and international development and pursue a career in the foreign service.

Chief of Staff
Simone Shadd is the Under-Secretary-General of Volunteers and Recruitment of ALMUN XI. Over the summer she served as an Avanti Orientation Leader for the University of Alabama and enjoyed helping incoming students adjust to college life. She is also a barista at an on-campus Starbucks. When she is not working, Simone can be spotted in the classroom learning about business and public relations. Simone is a marketing major and public relations minor and is expected to graduate in May 2021. International relations has always been an interest for her, and she has loved her time with the Alabama International Relations Club. Curating a quality experience for every delegate by providing volunteers and staff to create a great substantive environment has been and will continue to be a top priority to her.
USG - Communications
Maria is a senior from Tuscaloosa, AL majoring in international studies and economics and minoring in Russian, Spanish and history. She has studied abroad in Latvia as a US Department of Defense Boren Scholar, in Kyrgyzstan as a recipient of the US Department of State Critical Languages Scholarship, and in Spain through the University of Alabama. On campus, she has been involved in the Alabama International Relations Club and Los Estudiantes de Alabama Sin Fronteras Hispanic community outreach organization, as well as the Huxford Symphony Orchestra and University Chorus. She has also interned with College Admissions Made Possible and works as a research assistant with the Institute for Social Science Research.
Vito Lombardi is a sophomore from Niceville, Florida pursuing a dual degree in nursing and Italian with a minor in psychology. Outside of ALMUN, Vito is involved with UA's Italian Club, Alpha Psi Omega, and the Student Government Association. After completing his undergraduate degree, he plans to attend PA or medical school to further his education.
